Prayer

Prayer is the primary work of God’s people.
— A.B. Simpson, Founder of the Christian & Missionary Alliance

At First Alliance Church, we embrace this truth. Prayer is one of our core priorities and one of the Core Competencies of a disciple of Jesus Christ. Nothing of lasting value that matters can be done unless prayer is at the center of it. Prayer is the disciple's conversation with God where we express concerns, we listen for His guidance, and end up aligned with His will. It is also the first (but not only) way we can support one another.

There are multiple ways you can connect with others in prayer. Not only is prayer a normal part of Worship Services (for all ages), Discipling Communities, and Ministry Teams, but there are some specific times you can gather with others for intentional prayer. They are:

Pre-Service Prayer
Sunday @ 5pm

Missions Prayer Meeting
Wednesdays @ 7pm

Prayer for Healing
Wednesdays @ 7pm

Women's Prayer Meeting
Wednesdays @ 10:30am

Men's Prayer Meeting
Saturdays @ 7am

These generally happen every week, but be sure to check the Church Calendar to confirm.

We encourage every disciple to make prayer a normal part of your daily life. You can discover specific prayer requests by talking with friends, neighbors, and co-workers. If you are associated with First Alliance, you can access the Weekly Prayer Guide in the Log-in section. Or access the weekly prayer requests for C&MA Ministries and for people groups of the world. And keep track of prayer requests with the Echo Prayer App.

You can also elect to received prayer requests throughout the week as they come in via email or text. Click the button below to let us know how you would like to receive requests. Of course, please know that choosing to receive requests means that you are making a commitment to pray faithfully for these requests. :-)

Monthly Prayer Focus

Each month, we engage in a prayer focus that is determined by our Team of Elders & Pastors (the spiritual leaders of the church). Prayer is one of the Core Competencies for disciples of Jesus Christ. This Monthly Prayer Focus is designed to draw the entire church together to pray about an area that we see as needing a specific prayer. We pray about this as part of our corporate gatherings, Discipling Communities, and as individuals.

Our desire is to see God move in significant ways in an area because of the power of prayer.

For January 2019, the prayer focus is Slow Down & Listen.

Life is busy. Busyness crowds out loving God supremely, loving others selflessly, and loving the world sacrificially. In this new year, let us pray for the will and discipline to slow down and listen for the voice of the Lord in all of life, seeking His direction for what to prioritize in the time He has given each of us as disciples of Jesus. Pray that we would take time to be still and know that He is God over all. Pray that in each opportunity, each situation, each challenge we face this year, that we would be strengthened by the Lord as we quiet our hearts, minds, and souls before Him, wait on Him, and trust in Him. Pray against the mindset that busyness equals success and may we instead receive all that God has for us as we find our salvation in the repentance and rest that comes from the One who is exalted over all the earth.

When You Need Prayer...

There are times when we all need someone to pray for us. We're here for you. You can submit a prayer request via the link below. In addition, after every morning Worship Service there are Elders, with their wives, available in the Prayer Room for prayer and counsel for whatever is going on in your life. Or give us a call. Or stop by.
