Family Festival of Nations 2018

facebook banner.jpg

This year's annual Family Festival of Nations is February 25 - March 4, 2018. It's a full week of celebrating what God is doing around the world, hearing how God is using the skills of people just like you and me to introduce  unreached peoples to the saving grace of Jesus Christ, and discovering ways we can be part of the Great Commission.

When we organize our lives around the ways and priorities of Jesus, we discover a "World of Opportunity." Opportunities to use everyday skills and abilities in purposeful and intentional ways to proclaim the good news of Jesus all around the world. Living as disciples of Jesus can at times seem odd in these days, but living with this kind of purpose is exactly what Jesus calls all of His followers to do. When we live as the chosen people He has called us to be, we can show others the goodness of God in all kinds of ways. (1 Peter 2:4-12)

Our identity is in Jesus, and our purpose is the Great Commission. God is calling us to live intentionally, engaging in a world full of opportunities. Will you say yes?

You're invited to be part of this year's Family Festival of Nations. There's lots of ways to participate. Check it out below, and we hope you will choose to live purposefully for the sake of Jesus.

This year's special project is raising money for the completion of the kitchen at the Messiah Evanlegical Church in Eastern Europe.

Messiah Evangelical Church is a key national church in Eastern Europe that the C&MA partners with in church planting and development and serves as the “mother” church in a network of 6 churches in different cities around a specific country.  For 13+ years, the church has tried to build their own building and finally, after years of complications, they received a building permit on June 30, 2017 to build on a plot of land they had purchased in 2005. Construction was completed in record time for a dedication service on December 23, 2017. They are thankful for the quick and relatively problem-free construction of the 4-story, nearly 12,000 square foot building!

Although the building is completed, it is minimally furnished, and the church is going to finish room-by-room as funds are available. One of the priorities is the kitchen. The church has never had a kitchen. Previously there was just a refrigerator and a sink, so having a full kitchen will be a big blessing and open up more opportunities for church fellowship and community events to be held onsite. In the Balkans, hospitality is a core cultural value and having the ability to prepare food and drink in the building will provide open doors for welcoming guests. Also, this is now the largest Evangelical church in the country and the most functional for large groups, so it’s sure to be a gathering place for nation-wide events.

The church plans to purchase industrial-grade appliances rather than household appliances because they will be a better value long-term, although this means a higher purchase price.

Be part of this project by placing extra coins and dollars in a collection cans. They're available in the front foyer. As part of the closing service on Sunday, March 4 at 10:30am, we'll have the opportunity to give together.

Images Help Us Remember. During this week, Clarence Wulf is making available a wide selection of international/missions slides that he has shot during his career. You can check them out in the FLC during meal times and the Family Fun Night. They are available to anyone interested to be digitized and turned into a prayer card, smartphone image, wall portrait, or something else to help you remember to pray for what God is doing around the world.
